Highpoint, our tallest is complete!

Highpoint, in the heart of Charlestown is complete with purchasers now calling what is both ours and Lake Macquarie's tallest, home.

It has been in an incredible 6 months during the first half of 2020 for GWH, with Highpoint one of three residential developments completed across June and July, combining to see our teams delivering 113 apartments to the region.

Encompassing 68 apartments, two resident entertaining terraces and a ground floor retail suite, Highpoint, soars to a height of 165m above ground level and is our tallest multi-storey development in our 25 year history.

A project led by team Highpoint, yet contributed to by the entirety of our business, from marketing to finance, to construction and development. A development that has encouraged innovation and growth of GWH.

On site, team Highpoint began with demolition and excavation of the basement levels in 2018. Just over a year later and the final concrete pour of the rooftop terrace was achieved late in 2019. The Rooftop Terrace designed for residents and modern living, captures 360 degree views of Eastern Lake Macquarie and has been constructed to ensure its usability by residents all year round.

Offering an outlook like no other, taking in the beaches of eastern Lake Macquarie, North to Stockton Sand Dunes and West across the region to the hills of Mount Sugarloaf, it is the best vantage point in the region.

"Highpoint is a milestone project for GWH. Our tallest residential development in our 25 years and testament to the teams’ ability and determination to deliver an incredible opportunity for our community to live in a home, like they have only imagined." Jonathan Craig, GWH Managing Director

From conception through development and construction, Highpoint has challenged and enabled GWH to grow to new heights, alongside the Hunter Construction Group of companies.

Working alongside our integrated partners of the Hunter Construction Group, the build of Highpoint has encompassed the installation of 476 precast concrete panels, the pouring of just shy of 3,500m3 of concrete, all supported by 276 tonnes of structural steel.

Within Highpoint’s 68 apartments are four accessible apartments, built to platinum standards, opening up the opportunity of a modern home, in a supported environment to those in the community with the need for adapted living.

When we rewind and look at the journey of developing and building Highpoint, we have hit many company milestones throughout this development and are incredibly proud of the heights this project has taken GWH to.
